Voting begins in Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections

In Maharashtra, polling is being held in all 288 Assembly constituencies where 3,237 candidates, including 235 women, are in the fray.

The voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm.

A total of 6.5 lakh polling personnel have been deployed at 96,661 polling booths across the state. Nearly 1,35,021 VVPAT machines have also been installed.

Of the 288 constituencies, Nanded-South seat has the maximum 38 candidates, while Chiplun in Ratnagiri district has just three nominees.

In Haryana, polling will be held for 90 constituencies.

The fate of 1,168 candidates will be sealed in 19,578 polling stations across the state in voting, which will commence at 7 am and halt at 6 pm. 

Tight security arrangements have been made and over 75,000 security personnel mobilised for the Haryana polls, where over 1.83 crore voters, including 85 lakh women and 252 transgenders.
