PM Modi: Opposition's every word important

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's clear message to the opposition as the 17th session of Parliament begins, accept the people's mandate and play the role of a constructive and responsible opposition. Prime Minister said that the role of an opposition especially one that is active and effective is a pre-requisite of democracy.  He appealed to them to set aside concerns about numbers assuring them that their every word is valuable to the government. Prime Minister hoped for a productive session. 

PM welcomed all new MPs. He said with them comes new hopes, new aspirations and new determination to serve. Prime Minister hailed the voter turnout in the Lok Sabha polls making a special mention of the participation by women. He expressed happiness that the new house has a high number of women MPs. PM said past experience suggests that when the Parliament functions smoothly, the government is able to fulfil numerous aspirations of the people of India.

He urged MPs to move beyond the TRP game and pay attention to others views during debates in Parliament.

On Sunday Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired an all-party meeting of 17th Lok Sabha. He invited Presidents of all parties to a meeting on 19th June. The aim is to to discuss one nation, one election as well as celebrations of 75 years of India's Independence in 2022 and 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary this year. This meeting will be followed by a dinner meeting with all MPs on 20th June to freely interact and exchange views with the government.

This session of Parliament will see a heavy load of legislative agenda with several Ordinances being replaced by laws, several lapsed bill being re-introduced and the introduction of new bills.

Among them are:

the Triple Talaq Bill,
National Medical Commission Bill
the Consumer Protection Bill,  
the Motor Vehicles Bill
the Trafficking Bill
Companies Act Amendment Bill
JK Reservation Amendment Bill
Central Education Institutions (Reservation of Teachers Cadre) Bill
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Amendment) Bill, 2019
Citizenship (Amendment) Bill

The current session of Parliament will run till 26th July. There will be 30 sessions in Lok Sabha and 27 in Rajya Sabha. Monday and Tuesday will see new MPs being sworn in. Lok Sabha Speaker will be elected on the 19th and the President will address  joint sitting of both Houses on 20th of June. The Budget will be presented on the 5th of July.
