According to Met office, the cyclone had a wind speed between 100 and 120 km per hour at that time.
In a special bulletin issued around 11:00 on Saturday night, the Met office had said Bulbul weakened into a severe cyclone from a very severe one at the time it entered Bangladesh.
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md Enamur Rahman said Bangladesh government evacuated 21 lakh people and relocated them to cyclone centres in 14 districts including Satkhira, Bhola, Barguna, Patuakhali, Barishal, Pirojpur, Jhalakathi, Bagerhat and Khulna.Army, police and coastguard members were deployed along with thousands of volunteers to help in the cyclone relief and related activities.
According to some reports 150 fishermen from Bhola, Barguna and Patuakhali, who had gone to the sea, were missing till last night.
Thousands of other people are also reported to be stuck in the low lying char areas of the country.
However, there has been no official confirmation of the damage to property, injury to people or loss of life till now.
The Met department has predicted light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind at most places across the country.
Many parts of the country may experience moderately heavy to very heavy falls.In Dhaka it has been raining since yesterday afternoon leading to a drop in temperature.
