According to Air Quality Index data, AQI touched the 500 mark in Lodhi Road area which comes in 'severe' category.
A public health emergency has been declared in National Capital, Delhi and nearby areas by the pollution control body mandated by the Supreme Court, as the region has been struggling with rising air pollution levels since Diwali.
The authority also banned the construction activities till November 5. Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority also banned the bursting of crackers during the winter season and hot mix plants. Stone crushers will be closed till November 5 in all NCR districts as the pollution level in the region entered the severe plus or emergency category.
Meanwhile, Delhi government has directed to close all schools till November 5 in the wake of spiking pollution level in the capital.
