Pati Patni Aur Woh Trailer Launch: Mudassar Aziz speaks up on whether this remake is sexist in today's timesPati Patni Aur Woh starring Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar is a remake of the 1978 comedy directed by Juno Chopra's grandfather BR Chopra. The film featured Sanjeev Kumar, Vidya Sinha, and Ranjeeta Kaur and it talked about extramarital affairs. Speaking about the remake, director Mudassar Aziz said, “I have seen that film 100 times. When BR Saab made it, it was a very bold film for 1978. Since then, the times have changed and people’s mindset has changed. So the film, which was considered bold then, when we look at it in 2019, we would have to look at it keeping the past in mind.” "So, if you had to make a bold film in 2019 and give a sense of completion and culmination to the relationship of a married couple, you had to write it with a new perspective. My effort has been to retain the essence of what BR Chopra said in the first film and say a few things that are relevant to the contemporary times,” he said at the trailer launch on Monday. Mudassar Aziz said that while adultery is a universal subject, he has tried to keep the situation light. Taking a dig at his own marriage, he said, "We try to show things onscreen that we fail to live out in real life. Since my marriage didn't work, I thought I should make someone else's successful in the film." When prodded about whether this subject could turn sexist in today's times, he said, “I have always put women at the forefront in my films. This one’s no different. You will realize that he is the situation and they both are driving the situation home. It is very important and I am glad you asked that question because it is very important to look at Pati Patni Aur Woh the way it has come out now.” Pati Patni Aur Woh is set to release on December 6, 2019.
